While many patients are familiar with crowns, dentures, and bridges, many are not as aware of inlays and onlays. These dental appliances are used to repair a tooth that has been damaged by decay. While each is very similar, they do have distinct differences:
Inlays and onlays, while similar to fillings, are much more helpful for teeth that have extensive damage due to decay. Oftentimes, a tooth that has previous dental work can weaken and lead to further damage. Inlays and onlays can work to strengthen the tooth and prevent further damage.
While other dental offices would require two visits due get their inlays and onlays, we proudly use CEREC technology which enables us to make inlays, onlays, crowns, and bridges on site! This allows you to get your inlay or onlay in just one visit. Your dentist will remove any decay or previous dental work before applying and will use dental bonding resin to ensure the proper place and a seamless fit.
